⚠️ Darker Nights Are Here – Stay SafeAs the evenings become darker earlier, we would like to remind residents to take a few simple precautions to help keep themselves, their families, and their property safe. 🚶 Personal Safety- Stick to well-lit routes whenever possible.
- Avoid using mobile phones or headphones at high volume when walking alone.
- Let someone know where you are going and when you expect to return.
- If you feel unsafe, trust your instincts and move to a busy area or call for help.
🏠 Home Security- Ensure doors and windows are locked, even when at home.
- Use timer switches on lights to make your property appear occupied.
- Keep valuables out of sight from windows.
- Report any suspicious activity to the police.
🚗 Vehicle Security- Remove valuables from vehicles or keep them out of sight.
- Lock your car and ensure windows are fully closed.
- Park in well-lit areas where possible.
🚴 Cyclists and Pedestrians- Wear bright or reflective clothing.
- Ensure bicycles have working front and rear lights.
- Take extra care when crossing roads, as visibility is reduced during darker evenings.
🤝 Look Out for Each OtherCheck in on vulnerable neighbours, friends, and family members. A simple phone call or visit can make a big difference during the darker months. If you witness suspicious behaviour or have concerns about crime in your area, please report it to the police. In an emergency, always call 999. Let's work together to keep our communities safe this autumn and winter. Issued by your local Chadderton Central Neighbourhood Policing Team. |
